The federal battery rebate, explained simply
The Australian Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program cuts the upfront cost of a home battery. The discount is applied by an accredited installer at the point of sale, so you pay the reduced price and never have to claim anything.
- Available for new batteries installed with new or existing solar
- Discount is based on usable battery capacity, with the largest support for typical household sizes
- Amounts step down over time, so the earlier you install the more you save
- Battery must be VPP-capable, and joining a VPP may attract extra SA incentives
Current figures: the rebate is worth up to around 30% of the installed cost of a battery, and reduces at set intervals. We confirm the exact discount for your system size in the quote.
Solar that matches your business hours
Businesses that run during the day are ideal for solar because they use the power as it is generated. We design around your interval data and tariff, not a brochure.
- 10kW to 100kW systems for shops, warehouses, workshops and farms
- Load-profile based design with clear payback modelling
- Commercial batteries for demand management and backup
- All electrical, metering and network approvals handled
Charge at home, properly
A dedicated wall charger is faster, safer and smarter than a portable cable in a power point. Here is what we look at.
Your switchboard
Does it have capacity and the right protection? A dedicated circuit with RCD protection is required.
Single or three-phase
7kW on single-phase suits most homes. Three-phase allows up to 22kW if your car supports it.
Solar-aware charging
Chargers that ramp up when your panels are exporting, so you drive on sunshine.
Workplace & strata
Load-managed charging for staff, fleets and apartment car parks without a supply upgrade.
Questions we get asked
Who actually installs my system?
We do. HD Energy Solutions is the licensed electrical contractor and the accredited installer. The person who designs and quotes your system is on the roof installing it.
How big a system do I need?
It depends on your usage, roof space and whether you plan to add a battery or EV. For most Adelaide homes 6.6kW to 13kW makes sense today. We size from your bills and how you use power, not a one-size-fits-all package.
Can I add a battery to my existing solar?
Usually yes. Depending on your inverter we can add an AC-coupled battery or replace the inverter with a hybrid unit. The federal rebate applies to retrofits as well as new systems.
What warranties do I get?
Panels typically carry 25-year performance warranties, inverters 10 years and batteries 10 years, backed by manufacturers with Australian offices. Our installation workmanship is warranted separately.
Do I need to be home for the install?
Someone will need to be there to give access and for the final handover. A typical residential solar install is one day, and a battery half a day to a day.
